The cemetery was established on 2.8
acres north of Woodburn in 1904. In July of 1945,
St. Luke's Cemetery Association was incorporated and
plans for improvement were made.
In 1947 a monument was dedicated on
the spot that Father Rubis has chosen for his own
memorial.
The St. Luke's Cemetery Association
was reactivated on Octuber of 1966. A well sprinkling
system were installed in 1967. An office and workshop
were built in 1970.
In 1977 an additionalk two acres an
the south side were dedicated. A permanent altar and
a cross were blessed by Bishop Steiner in 1983.
The Columbarium was dedicated in 1986
and by 1988 the brick and wrought iron fence as completed.
A statue of St. Luke was blessed on Memorial Day,
1989.
There have been 1756 burials at the
site as of December 31, 1998. |
